How Many Teeth Can Be Replaced with Dental Implants?

elderlypersonsmiling

If you’re missing one tooth, then dental implants are a great solution in Mt Pleasant, PA. They function just like the real thing but won’t ever become decayed or discolored. But what if you’re missing a couple of teeth? Or many in a row? Or you’ve lost all of them? The great news is that dental implants have the versatility to replace any number of missing teeth! Learn about the different options you have for replacing your missing teeth below:

Single missing tooth

This is the simplest scenario for a dental implant. Your dentist places a dental implant in the empty tooth socket and restores it with a dental crown. It’s as if you’d never lost a tooth in the first place! If your tooth is failing and needs extraction, all these steps can generally be completed in a single appointment. You’ll be able to experience the benefits of a dental implant immediately.

Multiple missing teeth

There are two kinds of multiple missing teeth: a row of missing teeth or multiple missing teeth that are not next to each other. In the case of the former, your dentist can insert two dental implants and suspend a dental bridge in between to restore a row of teeth. For the latter, you’ll receive separate dental implants and dental crowns to fill in the gaps of your smile.

Full arch of missing teeth

For teeth that are missing in an entire jaw, you can receive implant supported dentures or full mouth dental implants. This consists of between two and eight dental implants placed along your jaw ridge onto which your current denture or permanent bridge of life-like replacement teeth is attached. This solution can replace all your teeth in the top arch, bottom arch, or both.
